A LICENSED
RELIGIOUS SCIENCE PRACTITIONER ...
Practices the Presence of God through spiritual practices such
as meditation and affirmative prayer, by living in that presence,
and thereby demonstrating spiritual truth. Practitioners use two
powerful tools in their work to assist clients in handling life’s
challenges. They have been trained in the art and science of Spiritual
Counseling. They also use Affirmative prayer (also called Spiritual
Mind Treatment) to work with challenges and to bring about change
by recognizing the Truth of that situation. The license to practice
as a Practitioner of Religious Science is granted by the United
Centers for Spiritual Living.
AFFIRMATIVE PRAYER ...
is based upon the belief that we are surrounded by a Universal
Mind which reacts to our thoughts according to Spiritual Laws.
Through the use of affirmative prayer (or scientific prayer) our
consciousness (meaning our belief about our self) is changed,
thereby causing a change in our body and in our affairs. As our
faith in the ability to apply spiritual laws grows stronger, the
capacity to know the truth of our being develops, bringing happier
self-expression and more good into our lives.
We recognize Universal Spirit. We recognize the One Source, God.
“The Truth shall set you free” is the basis of all
healing, and the Truth is that we are already free. We are made
in the magnificent image and likeness of God. Knowing this, regardless
of how undesirable the situation or condition may appear, or how
long it has existed, it can be changed.
A SPIRITUAL COUNSELING SESSION
with a licensed practitioner is a gentle time in a safe atmosphere
where you can gain clarity on what you want in your life and the
reasons why that may not be happening. Through Affirmative prayer,
the spiritual law is set in motion to make changes in the situation
and to help you see the ways God is working in your life. You
will be guided in new ways of approaching your life and affairs
and in having greater spiritual understanding. The relationship
between you and your practitioner is one of caring, sharing, teaching,
and assisting you in your quest for a better life, all in a professional
and confidential setting.

Lorna Bright is a motivational speaker, musician,
author, songwriter and workshop facilitator. She came to Yuma
in 1999 and became a Licensed Religious Science Practitioner
in 2004. Lorna teaches various credentialed SOM classes and
has conducted workshops across the country on the subjects of
goal setting, communication skills, team building and human
potential. She speaks regularly on New Thought principles and
metaphysical Bible interpretation.
